The type of hex socket screw

Button Head

Has a low-profile and rounded dome head. Socket Button Head Screws to ISO 7380 are typically manufactured from Steel Grade 10.9, A2 / 304 Stainless Steel and A4 / 316 Stainless Steel. 

Flat Head (Countersunk)

Socket Countersunk Screws, manufactured to DIN 7991 standard / ISO 10642, feature a flat head and hexagonal drive recess – fastened using a standard hex wrench or insert bit. Tapers to sit flush with or below the material surface.

Socket Cap Screw

Hex Socket Cap Screws, often referred to as Allen Head Bolts, conform to DIN 912 standard / ISO 4762, these Hex Socket Cap Screws feature a head height equal to the thread diameter and can host either a smooth or knurled edge around the head.

Set Screws

Socket Set Screws created to DIN 914 specifications,typically headless and used to secure an object within or against another object . Manufactured from Steel 45H, A2 Stainless Steel and A4 Stainless Steel as standard. 

Security Versions

Some have a pin in the center of the socket (Tamper-Resistant Torx® is more common for this now) or require a five-sided (pentalobe) key to prevent unauthorized removal. Non-standard sizes, materials, finishes and  small volume manufacture are available.
